D. Yoder Family Sundays: Casa Romantica 95th Anniversary Celebration

Sunday, Sept. 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Celebrate the 95th anniversary of Casa Romantica during D. Yoder Family Sunday with free admission. Learn history with docents placed around the property and learn how Ole Hanson’s 1927 home was turned into the cultural center it is now. There will be a celebration with cake to commemorate the Casa’s 95 years as a home and gardens.

Three local teams are at home and one is on the road this week. San Clemente hosts La Costa Canyon, JSerra takes on Newport Harbor, and Capistano Valley Christian hosts Godinez at Aliso Niguel HS. South OC Cars and Coffee, dubbed the world’s biggest weekly car meet, attracts a mix of 500-1,000 hypercars, supercars, exotics, vintage, classic, muscle and sports cars, hot rods, rat rods, pickups, 4x4s and motorcycles. Those attending are encouraged to practice responsible social distancing. Face masks are not mandatory but are recommended. No cars in before 8:30 a.m. Cars should enter and leave slowly and quietly—no revving, speeding or burnouts.

BATTLE 4 BETSY, FIGHT AGAINST BRAIN CANCER

Sadly, Betsy was diagnosed with brain cancer and has been told by her doctors that her options locally have been exhausted. She has found new hope through Sanford Medical, and they have agreed to take her as a patient and perform the life-saving surgery needed. Unfortunately, these doctors are out of network and not covered. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds from this fundraiser, which will include food, live music, a silent auction, raffle prizes and a full bar, will go directly toward Betsy’s medical expenses. Tickets are $50 per person, $20 per child 12 and under.

Delahunt Brewing Celebrates Taproom Grand Opening in Dana Point

San Clemente-based brewery Delahunt is bringing its craft beers over to Dana Point to continue expanding the brand, as Delahunt and Co. opened the doors to their new taproom and taqueria in La Plaza Park.

Delahunt Brewing held a soft opening on Saturday, Aug. 27, offering locals a chance to try out its tacos and fresh beer on tap before its grand opening on Friday, Sept. 2.

After the taproom opens at 11 a.m. on Friday, it will host live music with a performance from the band SM Familia from 2-5 p.m.
